The Headleys (Bernie, Marc)

Bernie Headley (father), never a scientologist, worked for the Church of Scientology.
Marc Headley (son), former scientologist

Glosslip Radio (May 9, 2008): "Marc Headley interview"

[...]MH: That’s probably on the founding policies of the church, that anyone who is against Scientology, that publicly speaks out against Scientology, is a Suppressive Person. That’s where you get the whole disconnection thing and the Fair Game. Those are all attributes of this Suppressive Person thing. A lot of people have even asked me, have I ever been Fair Gamed? Absolutely. There’s an SP, a Suppressive Person, that’s a friend of mine, and he hasn’t seen or talked to his mother in years because he’s been declared a Suppressive Person and his mom is still a Scientologist. He was called in by OSA, which is the Office of Special Affairs, which is the Church’s investigative branch. They called him and said “We want to meet with you and we need to speak to you about some stuff.”

MH: They met up in a restaurant in L.A. and this girl from OSA, Kirsten Cattaneo, that’s her name. She told him that if they could dig up, create some kind of dirt or any kind of blackmail material on me, and if he could help her on that, since we were good friends, then they’d let him see his mom again for that information. That’s just one instance. I’ve had private investigators and OSA staff members camped outside my house in vehicles outside my house for weeks at a time. Just out there. Just hanging out. Just watching. Looking who comes and visits me, where I go. I’ve been followed in my vehicle. I’ve been tailed on numerous occasions. My trash bins have been gone through. Three days ago I got a knock on the door in the afternoon, my wife and I were both home with my two children – I have a two year old son and I have a nine week old infant – we got a knock on the door and it was Child Protection Services. Bernie Headley: "Do you know Stephanie? Do you know where she is? Can you contact her?"

Stephanie is my daughter. I have not been able to speak with her for three years! I helped her brother escape Scientology and as soon as it was determined he and his wife came to me, I was unable to reach her. I was even told they didn't know who she was! I didn't even know where she was for a couple of years, but have received information that she is currently in Toronto and recently got married. I got that information fourth hand, though, and have not been able to confirm it or get any further details. I do know she was "offloaded" from the Scientology Gold base (which is basically the same as being "fired") and she is no longer on staff.

Stephanie has a two year old nephew she has never seen, or for that matter, I'm not even sure she knows about him.

Another nephew added 2/27/08! Her mother, Trudy, who is also an "offloaded" Sea Org Scientologist, has never seen her grandsons. She also has not spoken to her own son for at least three years!

My son's wife has family that live within minutes of them and they have not spoken to them either. Her mother has never seen her grandson. Just because my son and his wife decided to leave Scientology! Just because I helped them!Just because we disagree with Scientology! [...]

KROQ (April 4, 2008): "Kevin and Bean: Marc Headley" (MP3)

[...]

Radio show host: Why did you leave?

Marc Headley: After 15 years I saw stuff and I heard stuff I couldn't believe was happening. David Miscavige himself —

Radio show host: That's the guy that runs Scientology?

Marc Headley: That's the guy that runs Scientology, who is supposedly not the person who runs it because he is in a totally separate branch that's just supposed to police the trademarks, and the copyrights of Scientology, but he runs the day to day activities.

Radio show host: And there was just stuff you saw that convince you you didn't want to be a part of it?

Marc Headley: Yes, physical violence, like — literally mental and emotional torture, things that would blow your mind.
