Safransky to French father of cultic daughter The following is a letter from Mrs. J. Safransky, president of the Tampa-Bay affiliate of the Cult Awareness Network, to a father from France whom she came to know when he visited this country to make contact with his daughter, then in a cultic group. Luc, here is my Christmas story about you, who looked so much like Santa Claus when we met just before Christmas last year, with your white beard and rosy dimpled cheeks, your smile, gentle manner, robust build, the twinkle in your eye (or was it a tear?) "San Luc come to the United States from France to see Veronica, his daughter, who is a member of a controversial group I'll nick- name the Grouches. After spending three happy days together at Disney World, she leaves the fantasy land of Disney for the closely controlled environment of the Grouches. A last visit is arranged on the day before Luc is to leave the country. Veronica arrives promptly at 7:30 a.m. Fellow Grouches have followed her. They whisk her away in a taxi! Surprise! The Grouches have had a change of mind. No more visits allowed! "I won't detail the sad part about Luc chasing the taxi, honking S-O-S on his car horn for help, how he stretched his dollars by sleeping in the rental car, or how he cried each time we met, wiping his eyes dry before going to the Grouches' house to request permission to see his daughter.( No, I won't give the Grouches the satisfaction!) Tearfully, Luc leaves the country. "Four months later, Luc writes to say that Veronica has left the Grouches and returned to France. She had chosen to leave on her own. And, still before Christmas, she has time to rediscover her father's love for her." Luc, my Christmas wish for you came true. The story has a happy ending. You give hope to many parents. Their efforts to free their loved ones are not in vain. I still believe in Santa Claus. ================================================================= If this is a copyrighted work, you are acknowledging by receipt of this document from FACTNet that on the basis of reasonable investigation, you have not been to obtain a copy elsewhere at a fair price, and that you are and will abide by the following copyright warning.
