A host of teachers, administrators, counselors, and clergy, among other experts, contributed articles and essays about cult-recruit- ment on campus, student vulnerability, legal issues confront- ing college and university staff and administrators, effective cult-monitoring, counseling students and families, and edu- cating staff and students about cults. 2 Stop Abuse by Counselors [When P{sychotherapy Goes Wrong, Shirley Siegel, Client's Bill of Rights] What to Do When Psychotherapy Goes Wrong defines the nature of abuse in therapeutic situations, whether consisting of individual relationships between psychiatrists and their patients, social workers and their clients, or psycho- therapy cult leaders and consumers in the personal development marketplace. The author provides typical examples of abuse in all of these therapeutic contexts so that the abused -- or the potentially abused -- can recog- nize the danger and act, either to re- move themselves from the situation or avoid it. The book also includes a "Clients' Bill of Rights," a concise guide for readers to evaluate their experiences, and a guide for choosing a coun- selor. Author Shirley Siegel has lobbied successfully in the state of Washington to bring all forms of counseling for pay under state regulation.
