I have known the staff at Golden Era Productions for well over 20 years, and I have to say that I really take offense to the article that Charlie Hand wrote Dec. 18 about the lawsuit against Golden Era. As someone who has visited Golden Era numerous occasions, I have met countless friendly, productive individuals who are dedicated to their chosen vocation and way of life. They are there because they are deeply committed to the social betterment programs they help.

In my past capacity as Riverside County supervisor and even now, I have had the pleasure of working with some of the people that live and work at Golden Era Productions, and I continue to be impressed with the organization. The campus itself is more like a resort than any of the negative assertions Charlie talks about in his article. The allegations are almost laughable, and Charlie should have seen through the ruse of a former member going for a deep pocket. It is all about the money.

As far as fences, what Charlie needs to realize is that in addition to being home to some members of the Church of Scientology, Golden Era is also a working studio that requires security measures, just as any business does. If one takes the time to research all of the different types of drug education and human rights programs that are supported through Golden Era’s videos, they would have a different, more positive perspective on the organization. That is the real story!
