Kirstie Alley and Scientology vs the MOTHERS Act — Daily Kos
Type: Blog
Author(s): Barbara Graham
Source: Daily Kos
The MOTHERS Act is under attack by Scientology and its front group, 'Citizens Commission on Human Rights.' Kirstie Alley, the star of Fat Actress, Cheers, and Jenny Craig commercials, is using Twitter to spread lies about this bill, which has the potential to help thousands of new mothers understand and deal with Post Partum Depression. I just got back from San Francisco Monday. I went up to join in a protest of the Scientology rally against the American Psychiatric Association convention ...

Special investigation: The Battle Over Scientology: How the Lines Were Drawn in Riverside Co. — KESQ Channel 3 (CA)
Type: TV
Author(s): Nathan Baca
Source: KESQ Channel 3 (CA)
By Nathan Baca News Channel 3 PART ONE It's a full blown war you've likely never heard of. There is a battle between leaders of the Church of Scientology and a group of activists with both sides sworn to fight to the end. This is war; in the shadow of a cross, and behind the gaze of a mask. Like any war, there is violence; there is rage. There are politicians in the middle of it, and there are partisans fighting ...

Guest Column: Exploring the relationship of Narconon and Scientology — Rock River Times (Rockford, Illinois)

In searching your online edition for drug-related articles, I noticed that a number of them are press releases from the Scientology organization. These articles are a good example of how Narconon combines scientific, medical fact, blended with founder L. Ron Hubbard's fanciful theories on drug abuse. The press releases" you're picking up are released on several newswires by Scientology's Public Relations office. Of course, they hope that mainstream publications will print them. The main use of these pieces is within Scientology's ...

Readers' letters [I was absolutely horrified by Ozzie Robert's column this week...] — San Diego Union-Tribune
Type: Press
Source: San Diego Union-Tribune
I was absolutely horrified by Ozzie Robert's column this week, where he profiles a Volunteer Minister from the Scientology organization here in town ("Work and study mark the way," 3/2/04). To portray this group, identified as a destructive cult by scholars and governments, as a positive asset to our community is dangerous. It might encourage others to join. Their 50-year history is replete with horror stories. Anyone can, and should, do a Google search before getting involved. . . . Combinations ...
