Travolta's lawyers: Jett had history of seizures, medicine ineffective — FOX News
Type: Press
Source:
FOX News John Travolta's lawyers, Michael Ossi and Michael McDermott, said Sunday Jett Travolta, the actor's 16-year-old son who died Friday, was on an anti-seizure medication called Depakote for several years, but the drug was suspended after it lost its effectiveness amid concern about side effects.
Jett apparently suffered from grand mal seizures, a type of epilepsy marked by convulsions and loss of consciousness, Ossi and McDermott said.

Isaac Hayes' Strange Funerals — FOX News
Type: Press
Author(s):
Roger Friedman Source:
FOX News Isaac Hayes, Oscar-winner, R&B legend and musical icon, got two sendoffs in two days here in his Tennessee hometown, and each was as strange as it was surreal. Monday afternoon had been billed as a tribute to Hayes, and many in the Memphis music community thought it would be the day of the Stax Records star’s actual funeral. But in fact, a "secret" service was held on Sunday in order to accommodate a boatload of celebrities who flew into town under ...

Tom Cruise, John Travolta: Homo-Novis — FOX News
Type: Press
Author(s):
Roger Friedman Source:
FOX News Is it a conspiracy or just bad luck? The anti-Scientology video we told you about on Monday afternoon featuring actor Jason Beghe has been removed from YouTube. Sort of. The original video, put up by videographer Mark Bunker, is gone. YouTube pulled it late on Thursday. In the video, which Bunker made, Beghe describes his 13-year membership in the sect and why he left. Bunker thinks YouTube took down the video under pressure from Scientology. It’s possible, of course, but unlikely. ...

Actor Jason Beghe: Scientology is 'brainwashing' — FOX News
Type: Press
Author(s):
Roger Friedman Source:
FOX News Jason Beghe is the bravest actor in Hollywood. He’s come clean about his 14 years in Scientology, the religion that Tom Cruise reveres. He says the purpose of Scientology is to create a "brainwashed, robotic version of you." He also says that he spent about $1 million to work his way up the Scientology ladder to become what’s known as an "OT5 auditor," or someone who listens to new members and teaches them the ropes. He was so successful as a ...

Tom Cruise Rewards Scientology Honchos — FOX News
Type: Press
Author(s):
Roger Friedman Source:
FOX News Sunday night, Tom Cruise rewarded high-ranking members of the Church of Scientology with tickets to a private screening of his new movie, "Lions for Lambs." This is the provocative anti-war movie which he executive-produced for United Artists with partner Paula Wagner. I rather doubt that director Robert Redford, who's also a co-star, and Cruise's other co-star, Meryl Streep, had any idea that the screening room at the Museum of Modern Art and the cocktail party following was full of Scientologists, including ...

BU's Scientology Connection -- the Secrets of Scientology — Boston Phoenix
Type: Press
Author(s):
Dan Kennedy Source:
Boston Phoenix To Scientologists, Steven Fishman is an apostate who's spread vicious lies about the church to which he used to belong. To church critics, he's a hero who's exposed the truth about Scientology. Evaluating Fishman's credibility is difficult, to say the least. He's an ex-convict who served a prison term for financial crimes that he claims he was ordered to commit. Church officials deny there was any such order, and they deny just about everything else Fishman has said about his old ...

Letters: The 'Big League Sales' church — East Grinstead Courier (UK)More: link
Type: Press
Source:
East Grinstead Courier (UK) The 'Big League Sales' Church AS the perpetrator of the supposed 'hooligan antics' against the Concerned Businessman's Association at the May Fayre, could I reply to the Scientology Public Relations officer's allegations? Worried by the Courier's recent story on the tactic of luring children into Scientology via front groups, I stopped by at the Concerned Businessman's Association stand to find whether they admitted any link to Scientology. Asked the question, one of the scientologists on the stand said 'yes', the other ...

Scientology defended [Letters] — East Grinstead Courier (UK)More: link
Type: Press
Source:
East Grinstead Courier (UK) Scientology defended I HAVE several points to make about your last week's coverage of the Church of Scientology. 1. On your front page, you used photographs taken by two men who at the recent May Fayre heckled and abused the two female Scientologists who were giving their help to get the street signs cleaned. In fact these photographs were taken while the heckIing was going on. Thus these men have been "rewarded” for their hooligan antics. 2. You rely almost exclusively ...

The 'Hard Sell' Cult — East Grinstead Courier (UK)More: link
Type: Press
Author(s):
Mike Ricks ,
Sarah Gorman Source:
East Grinstead Courier (UK) As a campaign by members of the church of Scientology to make Britain the first Scientology country gains momentum, we can reveal the cost of the "hard sell" 'religion' which has split families and which last week led one Ashurst Wood couple to the Bankruptcy Court. Our investigations suggest the cult uses high pitch American style sales techniques to trap their hapless "believers" in a never ending web of lengthy courses. Scientology is the religious philosophy which grew out of Dianetics, ...
