Type: Blog
Author(s): Scott Pilutik
Source: realitybasedcommunity.net
In the early 1990s, Michael and Marla Sklar deducted part of their children's school tuition from their income tax in an amount equal to the proportion they viewed their tuition going toward religious instruction, as opposed to secular teaching (e.g., math, english). He listed his deductions under section 170 of the Tax Code, which permits deductions for charitable and religious contributions. The IRS denied the Sklars their deduction, noting that the Sklars had not provided receipts from the Church of Scientology. ...

Scientology defector Jason Beghe on Scientology spokesman Tommy Davis: "You see the eyes, the lying that he's doing. Anybody can see that this guy is not clean. It's clear as day." Last week, John Roberts of CNN grilled Tommy Davis, a Scientology spokesman, who was predictably evasive about what L. Ron Hubbard's wacky minions are up to. 'Disconnection,' the church policy of splitting up families in order to shun critics of the church? Never happens, Davis claimed. And as for that ...

[Video: http://www.youtube.com/v/fQtvHqe-JIY] I have been reluctant to talk further about Gregg of Boston simply because there was so much controversy about his charges, his person and his past. I felt it was best to remain neutral. Part of the issue was related to my being aware that he had some extenuating circumstances in his past and I didn't want to be the one to draw any attention to this, simply because I didn't know the nature of what happened. Now that ...

Two minutes after walking through the ornate gates of the world famous Church of Scientology Celebrity Centre, an exquisitely renovated 1920s chateau-style, former hotel overlooking Los Angeles, I came face-to-face with my first Scientologist. He was impressive, tall, broad-shouldered and impeccably groomed with a set of blindingly white teeth. He looked like an actor who'd play a secret service agent.
