Vimeo cancelled my account

On May 13, 2009, I received the following notice from rights[AT]vimeo[DOT]com:
Dear Raymond Hill:

Your account has been removed by the Vimeo Staff for violating the Upload Rules of Vimeo.com

Reason: Uploading videos from TV, Movies, or something you ripped from the Web.

We hope you find a video host more suited to your needs. If you believe this was an error, please reply to this email in a civil manner with your reasoning ("I see other people do it" is not a valid reason).

Regards,
Vimeo

Somehow, Vimeo thought I should be warned in advance about responding "in a civil manner," and also warns me in advance that they won't accept lame reasons. Frankly, I have no idea why Vimeo would assume such bad faith on my behalf to the point of feeling the need to warn me in advance about the way I answer, and about the reasoning of why my videos are not breaching their upload rules.

Given that it appears I would have to prove that I am a nice and sensible person in the first place, I won't bother answering Vimeo. I fully believe that these videos were using "fair use" excerpts of materials published from other sources, to make a point.

I had three videos on Vimeo. Personally, I like the one titled "Roxanne Friend was told Scientology would cure her cancer", the one titled "Tom Cruise and NASA" is ok, but the one titled "Scientology's spokesperson Tommy Davis is concerned about the safety of protestors..." I think is way too long to make its point. Anyway, here they are, so you can judge for yourself whether Vimeo was justified to close my account.

"Roxanne Friend was told Scientology would cure her cancer" (3m 01s)

References

"Tom Cruise and NASA" (56s)

"Scientology's spokesperson Tommy Davis is concerned about the safety of protestors..." (3m 18s)
